Once you become an official expert baseball scorer (if you are not already), you can use ScorePAD abbreviations to score at-bats. You must use Graffiti to enter these abbreviations. ScorePAD recognizes abbreviations to speed up scoring for those familiar with baseball. Scoring this way feels nearly equal to scoring with paper. As you write the abbreviation with Graffiti, the letters you enter will appear directly below home plate of the GSP view. You must terminate your abbreviation with the down forward slash ( the same stroke that you use to begin a new line) Below is a list of Graffiti abbreviations that ScorePAD recognizes. >> Click here to see ScorePAD Graffiti Guide

Graffiti Writing Guide

Make most characters with a single stroke in the Graffiti 2 writing area, other characters are formed with multiple strokes. Characters turn into text at the blinking cursor.

The heavy dot on each shape shows where to begin your stroke. Always begin the stroke at the heavy dot.

The Graffiti 2 writing area is divided into two side: one for writing lowercase letters and one for writing numbers. Capital letters are formed across the imaginary line that divides the two areas. The small marks at the top and bottom of the Graffiti 2 writing area indicate the two areas.

To create lowercase letters, write on the left. Write numbers on the right. To capitalize, write the letters across the division between the two sides. (see graphic below)

To write Graffiti 2 characters:
  1. Tap the screen where you want your text to be on the handheld.
NOTE: You need to tap above the Graffiti 2 writing area, and must see a blinking cursor before you write the text.
  2. For example, the stroke shown below creates the letter n.
  3. Position the stylus in the left-hand side of the Graffiti 2 writing area.
  4. Start your stroke at the heavy dot and draw the stroke shape as it appears in the tables.
  5. Lift the stylus from the screen at the end of the stroke shape. That's all there is to it! When you lift the stylus from the screen, your handheld recognizes your stroke immediately and prints the letter at the insertion point on the screen.

As soon as you lift the stylus from the screen, you can begin the stroke for the next character you want to write.

IMPORTANT: You must begin the character strokes in the Graffiti 2 writing area. If you do not make Graffiti 2 strokes in the Graffiti 2 writing area, your handheld does not recognize them as text characters.

Writing capital letters

Graffiti 2 writing automatically capitalizes the first letter of a new record or sentence but you can also write additional capital letters.

To write additional capital letters, draw the same stroke shapes used for a lowercase letter, but write across the imaginary division line in the middle of the Graffiti 2 writing area.
